Deze Engelsman heeft een mobiel museum voor land-, zee- en luchttoestellen, en naar zijn zeggen is de Amfibidiver (alhoewel hij al heel wat speciale toestellen heeft staan) echt wel zijn paradepaardje. Zijn doel om hiermee de jeugd te inspireren meer technische dromen waar te maken, gaf ons de doorslag hem onze creatie toe te vertrouwen.  www.landairandsea.com/exhibits/amfibidiver

Nadat de Amfibidiver dan toch het Kanaal overgestoken was, ging hij z’n eigen leven leiden via het internet, waar hij nu nog steeds terug te vinden is op allerlei websites uit diverse landen. Neem zelf maar eens een kijkje: Amfibidiver op Google en ontdek waarheen hij je leidt!

In december 2007 was onze Amfibidiver dan ook één van de exhibits voor het Land, Air and Sea Museum op de grote Earls Court Boat Show in Londen.

The Amfibidiver was created by Belgian inventor Rene Baldewijns, assisted by project manager Katty Vermeulen.

When Rene found lugging heavy scuba equipment and getting hold of dive boats a problem, he put his mind to work and came up with a simple answer – he would build the world’s first driveable submarine!

The superb Amfibidiver is the machine that James Bond always asked for but never got! One hour driving, one hour speeding across the waves and one hour below the sea was the design objective.

Built to the 'wet submarine' concept, by using novel pressure buoyancy compensating methods, Rene did away with the need for a heavy hull to resist underwater pressure.

The Amfibidiver tows behind a family car before driving off its trailer (with all the scuba equipment) and into the water. On with the twin motors and out to the dive site. Pull the plug and down she goes. Find the dive site, park on the bottom (no traffic wardens) and off you swim. You can be back on the trailer after a dive before the others have even got wet!
